Amiga News

Jan 13, 2000: Well Amiga has changed hands again, so we'll just need to wait and see what happens next...

March 16, 1998:  I was surprised to see NewTek was at the latest Amiga show in St. Louis.  They stated that Lightwave for Amiga is still a possibility and that it is mostly due to hardware.  If Phase5's boxes take off, I can't wait to see Lightwave on one of those...

March 09, 1998-6:05pm:  I know, I just updated the page, but take a look at the information on Phase 5--a new AOS licensee!! (Looks like I might really get that A-Box after all, and answers my question why I'm doing this page for basically myself ;)

March 09, 1998-6:00pm:  Just so everyone knows, this news section is where I'll put important items.. Until a FAST Amiga-compatible computer is released, I pretty much have left Amiga (I wish it wasn't so).  Still, I keep tabs on the best machine ever made (and it continues to be made).  I'm looking forward to a machine like the A-box.  Just wish they had more updates on its progress.  Also, the Amiga Emulator has been released. As usual, you can probably find your way to all the necessary information, by running over to the Amiga Web Directory, listed below.   Research and Development continues in the states, with Marketing and Sales based out of Germany.  At least 7 companies have licensed the technology and are already producing new, and "more advanced" Amigas.  Convention attendance, continues to grow.

June 7, 1997:
Amiga Users have been facing trying times for several years. Now with the acquisition of the Amiga and its technologies by Gateway2000, and the formation of a wholly owned subsidiary of Gateway2000 called Amiga International, there appears to be a bright future on the horizon. Below are several links which lead to the best of the Amiga resources--news, related companies, and other items regarding the current state of the Amiga, and its possible future.

Sadly, the Amiga Web Directory has been shut down.

Probably the mother of all Amiga resources. This is the page which has kept Amiga users informed during the past few years of bankruptcies and failed acquisitions. Here are a few of the things you may find in the Amiga Web Directory:

  • The latest Amiga news
  • Electronic Amiga Magazines
  • Product Reviews
  • Links to Authors of Amiga Software
  • Software Support
  • File Collections (Archives)
  • Hardware Support
  • Amiga Companies

Amiga International is the wholly owned subsidiary of Gateway2000. The group of people working here have been partly responsible for keeping the Amiga alive, despite the bankruptcy of Commodore and EscomAG, the failed purchase by VisCorp, and so on. This company, along with the Amiga, just won't die. Bill Gates called the Amiga a "dead platform"--just shows you what he knows...
