March 16, 1998: I was surprised to see NewTek was at the latest Amiga show in St. Louis. They stated that Lightwave for Amiga is still a possibility and that it is mostly due to hardware. If Phase5's boxes take off, I can't wait to see Lightwave on one of those... knows, this news section is where I'll put important items.. Until a FAST Amiga-compatible
computer is released, I pretty much have left Amiga (I wish it wasn't so). Still, I
keep tabs on the best machine ever made (and it continues to be made). I'm looking
forward to a machine like the A-box. Just wish they had more updates on its
progress. Also, the Amiga Emulator has been released. As usual, you can probably
find your way to all the necessary information, by running over to the Amiga Web
Directory, listed below. Research and Development continues in the states, with
Marketing and Sales based out of Germany. At least 7 companies have licensed the
technology and are already producing new, and "more advanced" Amigas.

Amiga International is the wholly owned subsidiary of Gateway2000. The group of people working here have been partly responsible for keeping the Amiga alive, despite the bankruptcy of Commodore and EscomAG, the failed purchase by VisCorp, and so on. This company, along with the Amiga, just won't die. Bill Gates called the Amiga a "dead platform"--just shows you what he knows... |
