This software requires Magic User Interface (MUI). | This software requires ClassAct. |
Following, you will find many links to pages where
you can obtain software, with which you will be able to connect your Amiga to the
Internet, as well as other Internet-capable servers, clients, and utilities. The software
listed is either freely distributable, public
domain, shareware, freeware, alpha, beta, or commercial. |
Miami | MIAMI is a completely GUI oriented TCP/IP stack. Setup takes about
5 mins. Some of the features include:
Many reviews of all three of these TCP/IP stacks seem to indicate
that MIAMI is the best value, both in function and in price. |
|
|
AmiTCP/IP | AmiTCP is the most similar to a "UNIX" type of
environment. For a while, it was the de-facto standard for the Internet Amiga. Due
to US export restrictions, AmiTCP is only distributed from non-US sites. AmiTCP is also
more "complete" than the other stacks, as it includes, FTP, Telnet, ping,
traceroute, netstat, finger, and a variety of daemons (and more). Most of these clients
will work with MIAMI and (if you have the Amitcp patch.library from Oregon Research)
TermiteTCP. |
|
|
TermiteTCP |
Another TCP/IP stack from Oregon Research. No demo available. GUI
oriented. TermiteTCP requires an included patch library which allows the use of programs
written for the AmiTCP/MIAMI API. Utilities included with TermiteTCP do not work with
other TCP/IP stacks.

IBrowse | The most advanced WWW browser for the Amiga. Supports HTML 1, 2,
and most 3.0-3.2 commands (including IEHTML and NHTML). |
Voyager | A completely free WWW browser, supporting HTML 1-2. A new version
with enhanced features is in the works called Voyager-NG. |
Below are several types of E-mail and News programs. Generally,
programs will fall under one or more of the following types:
|
|
|
|
Thor | (E-Mail/News/POP3/SMTP) A client for reading/writing news and
mail. You can read newsgroups offline, or browse online. Email can also be read online or
offline. Supports MIME and UUENCODING, and is highly configurable. Thor also works with a
variety of BBS offline readers like QWK and Hippo, and can even grab filelists and files
automatically. Has built-in POP3/SMTP ability, so a POP3 Client is not required. |
AmFTP | AmFTP--A graphical FTP client. This probably is the one of the
most popular FTP clients available for the Amiga. AmFTP is highly configurable and can do
many things most other FTP clients cannot. Features include:
